By Chuck Arnett Chuck Arnett News Update for the Kaijudo Championship! June 26, 2013

Amidst the excitement from the Kaijudo Master Challenge events – the Finalists, the winning decks, the prizes – we wanted to let the players know just a bit more about what will happen at the main event in Seattle, WA, this August 2nd – 4th. See below for updated details of this year’s Kaijudo Championship itinerary.

Where and When?

Sheraton Hotel in Seattle, WA.

August 2nd, 3rd and 4th

Itinerary

On Friday, August 2nd we will take on two last-chance qualifiers. Two tournaments open to the public will be hosted at the Sheraton in Seattle, where the winner of each of those tournaments will receive an invitation to play in the Championship. At least eight players will be required for each tournament to begin. If participation levels only allow one tournament to occur, then the top two finalists will be invited to the Championship Tournament on Sunday.

  • Tournament One: 10am PST Friday, August 2nd
  • Tournament Two: 4pm PST Friday, August 2nd

Please also consider the following for the LCQ tournaments:

  • Two Competitions will take place
  • Players can compete in both for a spot in the Championship
  • The second event won’t start exactly at 4pm if the first event runs over on match time

Saturday, August 3rd, is officially R&D Day! All invitees, including the two last-chance qualifiers, will meet with Kaijudo R&D members in order to share their input on new cards for Kaijudo. Yes, it is an opportunity for players to develop the cards in the game! Players will learn about how Kaijudo is made and will be able to take part in sculpting the future of the game and its story. Meetings run from 9am – 6pm PST at the Sheraton, followed by a dinner for the invitees and Wizards of the Coast staff, and Sealed Play later that evening with R&D and more Wizards employees.

On Sunday, August 4th, the main event begins:

  • Hall Opens at the Sheraton at 9am PST for a Player Meeting scheduled for 9:30am PST.
  • Deck registration follows the meeting prior to Rounds 1 and 2, beginning at 10am PST.
  • Following a break for lunch, Rounds 3-8 are completed, beginning promptly at 2pm PST.
  • Top 8 plays for the Championship starting at 5:30pm PST

Prizes for the Championships will include iPads, Trophies, Kaijudo Hoodies and more! We’re also excited to have a few familiar faces on hand Sunday to recap all of the action for you later that week, including Thundersultan (aka Carl Reddish) and Ryan Miller. For live updates of the Tournament on Sunday, be sure to follow Andrea’s posts on our Facebook Page and on Twitter!

There are still a few surprises that we can’t tell you about yet – you’ll have to be there to see it for yourself! Good luck in your duels – hope to see you here in Seattle for the Champs!
