Vortex is Kaijudo’s Final Paper TCG Release

By The Kaijudo Staff The Kaijudo Staff News Vortex is Kaijudo’s Final Paper TCG Release August 21, 2014

For more than two years, Wizards of the Coast has worked to create a great action TCG brand with Kaijudo. While Kaijudo’s retailer and player community continued to grow, our product offerings didn’t meet the expectations of the broader fan base to engage further with the brand. As such, Kaijudo’s Vortex card set, releasing on August 29, will be the game’s final paper TCG release.

We are informing our players and retailers as quickly as possible so they can make the best decisions regarding event participation and product ordering.

The Kaijudo team wishes to recognize the tremendous effort that fans and retailers put into building a great community. As such we will:

  • Continue to run the Winter Championship on Oct. 10-12 in Providence, RI, along with all remaining Kaijudo Master Challenge qualifier tournaments;  and
  • Send special kits of unreleased and limited-release promo cards, as thank you gifts to all stores reporting August Kaijudo Duel Days (KDDs) and scheduling September KDDs to share with their players.

At the Championship, in addition to many other prizes and giveaways, Wizards will give each participant an electronic copy of what was to be the November release, Eye of the Storm, so they can experience and enjoy the fully designed next set. Qualified players will also have the opportunity to play in a booster draft featuring packs of stickered Eye of the Storm cards on Friday evening.

October Duel Days will be the final retail-based scheduled events for Kaijudo.

“This turn of events is truly heart-breaking for all those involved with Kaijudo at Wizards of the Coast because of our own love of Kaijudo, and the passion we see and feel from our community,” said R.E. Dalrymple, Wizards of the Coast Brand Director. “We can’t be more grateful to our fans, retailers, and distributors for the enthusiasm they brought to the game and their participation in making Kaijudo a great experience for all.“
